In the upcoming elections, Bushwick residents will see several familiar faces on the ballot as local incumbents run largely unopposed. However, the race for New York’s 7th Congressional District presents a contest for Bushwick voters, with long-time incumbent Nydia Velázquez facing Republican challenger William Kregler.
Thirty-six out of 51 councilmembers have sponsored the bill, which would grant more than 800,000 permanent residents and work permit holders the right to vote in city elections.
