The movie lovers from all corners of Bushwick (okay, all corners of Earth as well) will flock together this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. to watch the 89th Academy Awards.
Jimmy Kimmel will be the host, and given all the crazy, truly dystopian shit that’s been going on lately, we can expect many members of the Hollywood community will use their appearance as a platform to speak out. That being said, this might be one of the most important Oscar nights up to date that might just go beyond ogling the red carpet outfits (though there’s nothing wrong with ogling).
We reached out to local bars and restaurants to see what their set-up will be this Sunday, and three lovely establishments confirmed they plan nothing less than an epic Oscar night. So take your friends, and allow these bars to take care of you!
Start: 6 p.m.
Address: 50 Wyckoff Ave. (corner of Willoughby Ave.), Bushwick
Admission: FREE
Heavy Woods is one of those precious, reliable Bushwick bars that always delivers and never disappoints. This Sunday, they will have a red carpet at hand if you want to practice your red carpet walk; Oscar ballots with cool prizes; and most importantly two giant screens and quadrophonic sound.
Of course, Oscars make people hungry, and so Heavy Woods will be serving their excellent burgers, and insanely delicious Tchoup Shop menu. Get ready for beer, bourbon and a variety of cheap drinks, which will be used to play drinking games.
Your bartenders will be Gabe C., Kevin B. and Chris R. as red carpet hosts.
The Oscars at Lot 45
