Get ready for a beer-tea marriage. Wilson’s, the tea brand and cafe opened just over a year ago on Wilson and Hart, has partnered with German-style beer hall Bierleichen to bring tea, coffee and pastries to Seneca Ave in Ridgewood. From 7 am to 4 pm, Wilson’s will be serving 10-15 of their best-selling teas, coffee and premium baked goods inside the Bierleichen space.
Wilson’s co-owner Eric Gutierrez became a regular at Bierleichen when he moved to Ridgewood from Bushwick, and subsequently formed a bond with co-owner Adam Collison (who also owns The Drink in East Williamsburg and The Bounty in Greenpoint). Collison, who previously operated his own pop-up coffee bar 7 Day Coffee, found the perfect partner in Wilson’s, who were looking to open a second location.
Using the station Adam built himself, Wilson’s brought in manager Linwood Young (pictured below) to operate the coffee stand within the bar and give Ridgewood residents a daytime place to work, sip tea or even play a game of pool or two.
Wilson’s, known for its wide variety of loose leaf tea and delicious eats, including biscuit sandwiches, will soon start selling tea pre-packaged at their Bushwick location. The shop currently sells tea to a number of Bushwick restaurants and coffee houses including HiHello, Dweebs and Mixtape.
Once the Bierleichen outpost is in full motion, the two teams have plans to roll out an inexpensive, straightforward brunch: nothing on the menu will be more than $9, and the offerings will feature German-inspired fare, including some delicious sounding Dutch baby pancakes.
Bierleichen, which opened last year, and its neighbors Milo’s Yard and Onderdonk & Sons, will continue to operate during regular bar hours, from 4 pm to 4 am.
For now, a simple chalkboard sign enticing passerby with $2 iced coffee or tea lets locals know this bar isn’t just open for beer drinking.
Swing by and grab a cold brew!
