Newly opened on the corner of Seneca Ave and Madison St in Ridgewood, the second installment of Milk & Pull is bright, airy, and filled with unique touches (and a medieval/”Game of Thrones”-looking bathroom.)
Owners Joe and Angela Austin announced they were opening a new shop back in January and quietly opened last week. They decided to open a second, larger location as a companion to their original shop at 181 Irving Ave in Bushwick since they had always toyed with the idea of opening a second place. Once they moved to Ridgewood, Angela, a Queens native, says she wanted a coffee shop close by to work and hang out.
“I found there was no place for people to sit and work or casually meet with friends and enjoy a great latte or espresso,” Angela told us.
The new Milk & Pull features original details, like this tin ceiling
At first visit, the space looks like something out of Kinfolk mag – exposed brick, wood floors, and original tin ceilings. Joe tells me that when they stripped the place down, which was home to a former Tofutti storage space, they found the brick, a stunning tin ceiling, and wood panelling.
The challenge was finding the perfect location, says Angela: “We were very particular about having a corner location and having it be spacious and airy.”
In addition to the stellar location, you can expect awesome coffee from Stumptown, donuts from Dough, and bagels from Bagelsmith. Bagel sandwiches include the Roasted Bush (turkey, avocado, tomato, spinach, and chipotle mayo ) and my personal fave, Monkey Business (Nutella, peanut butter, banana and granola.)
The new Milk & Pull is the ideal place to grab a latte or dirty chai and hang out. The music isn’t played too loud, and big windows mean plenty of people watching on bustling Seneca Ave. It’s the perfect addition to Ridgewood and bound to be your new favorite local shop.
