A treasure trove of eclectic antiques and a café—that’s how the owners Stephanie and Diego Castillo describe their new coffee shop/bar/vintage store located at 205 Cypress Ave, The Keep.
The Keep is opening its doors for the first time on October 31 at 8PM in conjunction with Rubulad’s Halloween party.
Located in Ridgewood just at the border with Bushwick, in a line of small stores, The Keep’s proud neighbors are a Chinese restaurant, small grocery store and a laundromat. The owners promise that The Keep will be something different. “Café and vintage shop by day offering rustic roman small plates for brunch and dinner; with wi-fi, reading nooks and crannies, backgammon, music, funky mannequins and more,” announced their email.
Besides coffee and small plates, we were told that The Keep will also provide its patrons with boozy offerings such as cocktails, beer and wine. When the darkness falls on Cypress Ave, The Keep will invite “DJ’s, live music, magic shows, tarot/psychic readings, vaudeville, burlesque, pop-up restaurants, film noir nights, Rubulad’s party-go-round, Honk NYC, vintage shopping, dinner theater and all manner of shenanigans.”
Who are the owners? Stephanie describes herself as a Brooklyn native who grew up in Genova, London and in Africa and as a 1980’s New York club kid. Diego, originally from Mexico City, has been bartending and managing some of NYC’s most well-known spots including Keith McNally’s, Soho’s Lucky Strike and Frank De Carlos’ Peasant on Elizabeth Street. He currently manages Apizz in the Lower East Side.
Sounds good to us. Check these guys out on your way to one of the many Halloween killer ragers in Bushwick this year!
