Ava DuVernay, whose film Selma was nominated at this years’ Oscars, was spotted at Roberta’s yesterday for a “scout lunch” with two crew members in tow. A woman of insane cinematic talents and magical hair tweeted yesterday that she was out to lunch with cinematographer Zak Mulligan and production designer Inbal Weinberg. Perhaps they were scouting locations for her next award-winning film?
DuVernay’s Selma was on the list of every critic’s ‘best of’ list, not to mention she made headlines herself. She was the first black female director to be nominated for a Golden Globe and the first black female to have a film nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
The director is currently filming the pilot for a new CBS drama about the civil rights movement, titled For Justice.
