An incredible amount of excellent works of art donated to All Bushwick Sandy Relief Fundraiser has been flowing around in the past 3 days.  Bushwick artists proved once again their sense of community and compassion. Additionally, our fundraiser is probably the biggest steal in the history of the art…

If you take into account that a donation ticket is $10, this really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire some serious art, for really really cheap.   Among many great great artists (Deborah Brown, Tamara Gonzales, Danny Arenas, Meg Lipke, Julie Torres and many more), you can find also six Peace Prints donated by Julie Martin has been a leading figure in art and technology since 1960.

So what are the Peace Prints and what is their value… “Their price ranges from $1,000 to 20,000 each,” said Andrea Wolf, Director REVERSE gallery in Williamsburg.  Here is a little bit from their history. (An excerpt from the letter sent us by Julie Martin):

“During the 1972 Democratic & Republican Conventions that took place in Miami Beach, the Youth International Party, known as Yippies, carried out a variety of protests. They reached out to the New York art community; and several artists attended the events; some participated in the demonstrations; others sent their plans for projects to be realized from a distance. In addition, Patty Mucha organized the production of a portfolio of art prints which several artists donated to the Yippies as a means of generating funds to disburse to worthwhile causes. The artists who participated were: Richard Anuskiewicz; Oyvind Fahlström, Marisol, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Robert Whitman, and Jack Youngerman .

The silk-screen prints were executed by Styria Studios in New York and are signed and numbered in an edition of 150 . Originally offered as a portfolio, they are now available individually. The prints vary in size:

Richard Anuskiewicz, 29.5” x 40″

Öyvind Fahlström, 44” x 22.5″

Marisol, 29.25” x 41.25″

Claes Oldenburg, 21.75” x 29”

Robert Rauschenberg (no longer available).

James Rosenquist, 30” x 22.5″

Robert Whitman, 40” x 29.5″

Jack Youngerman, 41’ x 28.5”

A not-for-profit Foundation has been established to handle distribution of the remaining copies of the Peace Prints with the mission of selling copies of the prints in order to donate the proceeds to groups needing support or donating the prints directly to benefits and fundraising events whose goals are shared by the foundation.”

You can win one of them now in All Bushwick Sandy Relief Fundraiser!
