Today, starting at 1:30pm, L trains will run every 20 minutes between Bedford Ave and 8 Ave while the MTA crew replace damaged cables at Bedford Ave, the MTA announced earlier today.
Some 8 Ave-bound trains will end at Bedford Ave. Canarsie-bound trains will stop on the 8 Av-bound tracks between 3 Ave and Bedford Ave.
The first delays started during the morning rush around 9:30 a.m., when 8 Ave-bound L trains were held in station while the FDNY investigated a source of smoke between Bedford Ave and 1 Ave, the MTA stated.
A representative with the MTA told Patch that they were investigating manholes between the stations. After the FDNY wrapped up within the hour, the trains were still running with delays.
However, the damaged cables sparked another series of delays and service changes on the subway line today.
The MTA’s last update at 2:37 p.m. stated: We are working to restore regular L service after we performed critical repairs. As we get back on schedule, continue to consider alternative service such A, C, J, M, or G trains.
