We have some sad news to report. Two falls—one in Bushwick and one in East Williamsburg—resulted in one critical injury and two deaths over the weekend.
A young teenager died on Friday evening after falling thirty feet from a Grove Street building in what sources are calling a roof jumping accident.
WABC reports that memorials have been growing all weekend for 13 year-old Rame Pierre-Louis, who feel from the roof with a friend who was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is now stable. The address of the accident was listed as 57 Grove St., and an unidentified man told CBS that neither one of the boys lived in the building.
In the same weekend, a man fell out of a fourth-story window in East Williamsburg. 21 year-old Tyler Watt was found unconscious and unresponsive in the 900 block of Metropolitan Avenue.
As the weather warms up, we want to remind anyone who takes advantage of Bushwick roofs to create some semblance of outdoor space in this concrete jungle that these roofs are not always as safe as they could be. They are not always legal spaces for recreation, and we want you all to be careful out there.
