Detectives slapped the cuffs on 20 individuals and recovered an array of narcotics while executing search warrants at the Hope Gardens housing complex in Bushwick on Wednesday morning.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the raids, which took place at 6 a.m. on Jan. 11 at 120, 140 and 160 Menahan St., were the culmination of an 18-month investigation that the NYPD Brooklyn North Narcotics Squad conducted into drug activity at the complex.
In searching the locations, police sources said, officers recovered at least two guns as well as undetermined quantities of heroin—much of which was packaged in small glassine envelopes—cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy pills. Various drug paraphernalia and large sums of cash were also seized.
The identities of the 20 arrested individuals were not available, but authorities said a majority of them reside at the Hope Gardens Houses.
Inspector Max Tolentino, commander of the 83rd Precinct, took to Twitter to announced the arrests: “WOW 7 warrants executed, 20 arrested, 2 guns, 1 which looks like an elephant gun & heroin. Thanks 2 the work of Bklyn No. Narco Great jobs.”
