Man Tries to Rape Woman on Bushwick Street - NYPD on the Hunt for Suspect

Police are looking for a suspect who tried to rape a young woman in the early hours of Sunday Sept. 6.

The suspect grabbed the 26-year-old victim from behind as she was walking near the corner of Evergreen Avenue and Grove Street at around 1 am, authorities said.  Forcing the victim to the ground, the suspect tried to sexually assault her but she resisted and the attacker ran off, according to a report.

Police released a sketch of the suspect, who is described as wearing a red shirt at the time of the attack.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477. The public can also submit tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.crom or by texting their tips to 274637, then entering TIP577.
