TGIF: Are You Ready for Bushwick Open Studios Next Weekend?

Bushwick Open Studios 2015 is just ONE week away! Remember to check out Arts in Bushwick’s official events all weekend. The festivities kick off on Friday night with the #BOS15 Launch Party and Seeking Space Exhibition at Be Electric Studios beginning at 8PM. Saturday afternoon, come support the neighborhood at BOS Community Day, a family-friendly day of fun at Maria Hernandez Park from 11AM to 4PM. On Sunday afternoon, see screenings from the neighborhood’s resident filmmakers at Cinema Sunday. Stick around for the official BOS Closing Party following the screenings. Tonight, May 29, the Arts in Bushwick High School Fellows Program is hosting an opening reception from 5PM to 8PM at Express Yourself Barista Bar (82 Central Avenue, Brooklyn). AiB is focused on more than just BOS: AiB-sponsored events include many great community projects like this one. Bring your friends and stop on by!

 

Arts in Bushwick held another official Bushwick Open Studios Mixer @ The Johnson’s at the end of March, allowing us to highlight a few individuals and their artwork. BOS participants work in broad range of media, including the visual arts, fashion design, curating, and radio broadcasting. Be sure to check some of the highlighted artists during #BOS15.

 

Continuing our profiles of #BOS14,  BOS Studio Visits provides an interview with local Bushwick artist Julian Lorber. Read on to to learn more about his expertly textured paintings that were on display during BOS2014. For a first-hand look, Lorber‘s studio is located at 119 Ingraham Street.

 

As our coverage of the Making History Benefit raffle at Storefront Ten Eyck reveals, the event on May 10, 2015, was a huge success. On the night of the raffle, there was present a mix of artists, collectors, and arts advocates, whose excitement had them “Jumping for Joy.” Thanks to everyone for participating!
