Have you guys been daydreaming about leaving the suddenly oh-so-cold Bushwick for always-warm-and-oh-so-sunny San Juan? Maybe you already see yourself boarding a JetBlue plane, escaping the November reality of Bushwick. But as you buckle up in your seat and subtly take your shoes off, you realize you will really miss the Bushwick street art! Well, worry not, dear daydreamer! Just turn on the airplane TV, relax and wait until Joe Ficalora and The Bushwick Collective appear on your screen. For real!
Airlines JetBlue has been screening videos produced by The New York Times on all their flights. And the beautiful, moving video about the curator of The Bushwick Collective, Joe Ficalora created by Chris Cascarano as well. We’ve been seeing happy social media updates from many Bushwick Collective admirers about being pleasantly surprised when Joe suddenly appeared on their screen. And we love it! Joe Ficalora himself told us modestly on the phone that it’s nice to see that people care and it warmed his heart but the response was a little overwhelming. “I called up JetBlue to thank them,” said Joe.
For those of you who are not flying anywhere just yet, we’re at least reposting The New York Times short documentary:
