Keep It Going: Post-Halloween Weekend Shows

Have the post-Halloween blues got you down? Still feeling burnt out from last night’s spooky celebrations? Not a chance! Halloween was just the beginning; the weekend is upon us, so don’t stop now! (Plus, we need to work off all those Reese’s Pieces.) Starting Friday night, keep the festivities going with Grooms, Au Revoir Simone, Tennis, a Cut Copy listening party, and so much more. It’s a new month, so basically, the possibilities are endless. Start assembling the Scooby Gang, and let’s kick off November right.

Kissing Is A Crime – “My Life As A Dog” 5.24.12 by LiveatSheaStadium

#5 Kissing Is A Crime, Bueno, Rosy Street & Slander @ Silent Barn (SUN 8PM, $7)

Now that Breaking Bad is over, your Sunday schedules have a bit more wiggle room. This Sunday night, wiggle on over to the Silent Barn for catchy Brooklyn post-punkers Kissing Is A Crime, who headline alongside Bueno, Rosy Street, and Slander.

#4 Au Revoir Simone @ Brooklyn Museum (SAT 5PM, FREE)

Though they’ve been churning their sweet synth-pop jams for quite some time, local trio Au Revoir Simone are pretty much blowing up right now. That’s why this weekend feels like the perfect time to see the band – for free – at the Brooklyn Museum. You know, before they play Barclays or something next year.

#3 Famous In Bushwick w/ Silky’s Skateshop @ The Loom (SUN 6-11PM, FREE)

This Sunday at The Loom, Famous in Bushwick is hosting its latest event. Stop by for an impressive group of artists of both the visual and musical varieties:  Gold Street Collective (visual media), Ben Angotti (live art), Andre Trenier (live art), and Shape (rapper). Art, tunes, free entry, AND drink specials? Sounds like a pretty ideal Sunday evening.

#2 Grooms, Far-Out Fangtooth, LODRO & Mone @ Death By Audio (FRI 8PM, $7)

Friday night is looking pretty alright at Death By Audio. We’re totally into GROOMS’ chilly brand of indie rock, which they’ll be serving in signature style alongside Far-Out Fangtooth, LODRO, & Mone.

#1 Tennis and Cut Copy Listening Party @ Brooklyn Bowl (SUN 7PM, FREE)

What could be better than the smooth pop sounds of Tennis AND a Cut Copy listening party? Did we mention this show is free with RSVP? Get ready for this latest School Night! party at Brooklyn Bowl, because it’s a doozy. I wonder if Alexander Skarsgard will be making an appearance.
