Two weeks ago, we asked you, our dear readers, to nominate your favorite place for wings in/around the neighborhood. In total, we received 10 tasty nominations.
Compared to other foods, like pizza, bagels, sandwiches and tacos, Bushwick (and all of New York City, for that matter) is not necessarily known for its wings, particularly when compared to our Western New York cousin, Buffalo. However, we still have our special wing spots! Sometimes, you just have to do a bit of searching.
After gathering all of the nominations last week, we asked you to vote.
The runners up . . .
In third place, carrying the bronze medal, is I Like Food. You can find I Like Food’s wings served up in the back of Aunt Ginny’s bar in Ridgewood at 652 Woodward Ave. The wings at I Like Food are unquestionably crispy and tossed in house seasoning. This local joint, which also made it on the list of best sandwiches in/around the neighborhood, serves up vegan wings as well, so there is something for everyone.
In second place, hoisting the silver medal, is Clara’s, located at 53 Wilson Ave. This local favorite is not a newcomer to the best wings in Bushwick competition, having previously won it. Clara’s, a friendly neighborhood bar named after the owner’s daughter, is a great place to watch a game with some tasty food and beer by your side. Clara’s offers both original and boneless wings in a variety of flavors, including Buffalo, BBQ honey garlic and jerk.
Drum roll please . . .
In first place, with the gold medal around its neck, is none other than The Deep End, located at 1080 Wyckoff Ave. in Ridgewood, near the Bushwick border. This local joint is a go-to spot for late-night food and drinks. And over the past few years, it has really built up a reputation for its wings, offering 75 cent wings every Wednesday (with a $15 drink or other food minimum, dine in only). Wings come coated in either BBQ sauce, Buffalo sauce, honey mustard or crack sauce. Or, you can get them naked.
“It is a huge honor to win in the best wings category because our wings have been a fan favorite in our community for almost five years now,” The Deep End responded. “We pride ourselves in our wings. People take their wings seriously, and so do we. It is a lifestyle. From our secret dry rub recipe to our range of sauces (try our popular crack sauce!), our passion for serving quality wings separates us from the competition.”
“We have a great team we call family, we put a lot of love into all of our food, and next year we plan on winning for best tacos and burgers. If you haven’t had our iconic munchie burger or our juicy carnitas tacos, then you aren’t living your best life!”

So a place in Ridgewood won best wings in Bushwick? I know most of these are effectively rigged by restaurants getting people to vote but this is jumping the shark.
