Brooklyn’s First Ice Cream Parlor for Humans and Dogs Is Coming to Bushwick

Summer is almost here and Bushwick has been begging for an ice cream shop to soothe the NYC heat waves. Welcome, Ollie’s Ice Cream + Stuff, an ice cream parlor for you and your… dog!

The new ice cream parlor is aiming to open late May around the corner from Maria Hernandez Park at 158 Irving Ave.

Eric Kyriakopoulos, 34, founder and owner of the shop, was born and raised in Long Island, and has lived in Bushwick for nine-ish years.

“I’ve bartended in the area for a while, there’s a billion bars in the area,” Kyriakopoulos told Bushwick Daily. “Me and my girlfriend love ice cream and dessert, and not many places have ice cream, and we end up going to the supermarket anyway.”

The couple fosters dogs, and have a dog of their own, so Kyriakopoulos learned how to make dog-friendly ice-cream. Their dog ice cream’s working title is “Peanut Butter Pumpkin Butt,” made of pumpkin puree—great for the digestive system—and no-sugar peanut butter for flavor, and a fat-free cashew yogurt for a creamy finish.

The parlor anticipates to have 8 to 10 flavors, with vegan, and dairy-free options. Look out for exciting flavors like midnight mint chocolate chip, a vegan and non-dairy coconut, a sea salt caramel, a nitro cold brew ice cream, raspberry lime sorbet, green tea, and an inside-out cookie crumble.

Seasonal flavors and offerings will be in the works as well, while they also intend to collaborate with other artisanal distributors.
