Start Planning Now: Bushwick’s Drunken Debate Watch Parties Are In the Works Already

Now that we’ve reached the point in this election cycle when the candidates can take the gloves off and casually sic the NRA on an opponent, it’s time to start thinking about the big questions, like where you can watch the debates in the presence of other human beings while everyone imbibes lots of alcohol. Democracy in action is a beautiful thing, isn’t it?

Th first Bushwick debate watch parties have been announced by Grattan Street watering hole Pine Box Rock Shop, where event coordinator Elizabeth tells Bushwick Daily the debates will be shown live, loud and clear on multiple screens.

Voter registration forms will be on hand in case anyone is compelled by the broadcast to forsake an opt-out stance, and there will be beer specials and themed cocktails on hand for all, including a tall orange drink called the Tremendous Trainwreck and The Pantsuit, a vegan drink made with locally distilled Owney’s rum.

After all the rigmarole, Pine Box will offer a free champagne toast after the numbers come in on election night, which you can partake of if you’re in the mood for it.

In case you haven’t marked your calendars already, the presidential debates are schedule for Monday, September 26th and Sunday, October 9th, and the vice presidential debates will be held on Tuesday, October 4th and Wednesday, October 19th. Election day is November 8th.

We’ll see you there, Bushwick—it seems like all five nights are going to be wild rides indeed.
