Popular female focused co-working space, The Wing will be opening its second location in Brooklyn. The company which lists Airbnb and Sequoia Capital among its investors, has signed on for roughly 17,000 square feet at Largo’s 71-75 North 7th Street building in Williamsburg.

Since launching less than three years ago, The Wing has opened eight locations across six cities in the US and raised $117.5M in venture funding, they also have locations abroad as well. The Williamsburg development is part of the firms’ greater New York City expansion, which will bring the total number of locations in the city to five by the end of 2019.

Founded by Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan, The Wing had initially launched as an exclusive space for women. However, following an investigation conducted by the New York City Human Rights Commission on whether its no-men-allowed rule violated local laws, the company has since amended its membership policy to allow all genders, including men in order to be inclusive of their GNC, non-binary, and trans members who may not identify as women. The investigation is now closed.

“The Wing is a space designed for women with a women’s focused mission. Members and guests are welcome regardless of their perceived gender or gender identity. Recognizing that gender identity is not always consistent with someone’s sex assigned at birth, we do not ask members or guests to self-identify,” said Yasmin Shahida, Strategic Communications Manager at The Wing.

Led by Laetitia Gorra, the firms in-house interior design team will bring the signature Wing aesthetic to the new Williamsburg location. The space will occupy three floors and include The Wing’s second New York location of its dedicated childcare space, The Little Wing, which will offer babysitting and early childhood education classes for members with young children.

In addition to The Little Wing, amenities of The Wing Williamsburg will include showers, lockers, conference rooms, phone booths, ladies library, lactation room, beauty room, quiet room, multiple outdoor terraces, a rooftop deck, and a full-service cafe.

All-access members in New York will have access to The Wing’s locations in the Flatiron district, SoHo, Dumbo, Bryant Park, and Williamsburg.

Although an official opening date has yet to be set, The Wing hopes to open its Williamsburg location to the public in late autumn. Their current monthly membership is $215.
