Granesha Keena, always knew she wanted to work with animals, “I wanted to be a vet but didn’t want to be in debt.” So, it’s fitting that she would end up opening Khalifa’s House in Bushwick.

Keena was working a corporate job in Chicago when she came up with the idea to start her own dog walking business. “I was researching feasible businesses with low start-up costs when I was living in Chicago and then I came across dog walking. Funny enough, the founder and CEO named the business after her cat.”

Since 2015 Khalifa’s House has offered professional dog walking, pet sitting and training services to Bushwick and surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods. Now, they’ll be adding a doggy daycare to their resume and have set up shop at 578 Bushwick Ave.

“I’m excited to have Khalifa’s House in Bushwick, it has always had an incredibly welcoming entrepreneurial community and residents that are passionate about supporting local businesses,” said Keena when asked what being a part of the community meant to her.

Since opening, the doggy daycare has gone on to partner with several local businesses like Lazy Suzy, where customers with K9’s who purchase “dog” mugs receive discounted daycare service for their first week. They’ve also partnered with My Two Dogs to host training workshops and have hosted doggy ice cream parties with The Pupper Cup. In addition to this, they’ll be partnering with Camp Happy Tails for an adoption event on Father’s Day in hopes to help some pups find FURever homes.

The fun doesn’t stop for your Furbabies at Khalifa’s House, the team has some great events planned, like another ice cream party on August 1 with The Pupper Cup from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
