Two individuals filmed on MTA surveillance video are sought by the NYPD in connection with a string of burglaries in Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Bushwick that have taken place over the course of the past month.

The first of the burglaries, which are predominantly in Greenpoint’s 94th police precinct, took place in the early hours of February 19th when an individual entered a home near North 10th Street and Berry street and stole a car key, and, subsequently, a car.

The most recent incident occurred shortly before 4am this Tuesday, March 22nd near Jackson St and Manhattan Ave when two suspects tried unsuccessfully to enter a building.

The sole Bushwick incident in the string was the second one to take place and occurred on Tuesday, February 23rd shortly before 2:30am when a single unidentified suspect entered a home near Stanhope St and Irving Ave and left with jewelry, bank cards and about $80.

At this month at Bushwick’s 83rd precinct community council meeting, the precinct’s Deputy Inspector Maximo Tolentino reminded the public that many of the most recent burglaries the precinct dealt were the result of residents leaving their doors unlocked.

“We’re one of the most burglarized precincts in the city,” he noted, emphasizing that an unlocked door is an invitation to would-be thieves and that the ramifications of identity theft are long lasting and difficult to combat legally, stressing that “You have to do better at protecting your identity.”
