A new boutique hotel has opened off the Flushing M and J trains at 9 Beaver St., the BKLYN House Hotel.
Managed by Real Hospitality Group, who recently opened Brooklyn A Hotel in Crown Heights, BKLYN House is a loft-style, 113-room hotel with amenities including free WiFi, complimentary continental breakfast and a small business center. Standing eight stories high, the hotel was two years in development and opened to the public mid-December. Currently, rates go from as low as $79 a night, but might be double during the high season.
Earlier this month, the hotel presented its ongoing collab with Bushwick’s Image Gallery and creative agency Renaissance Collective. On each floor of the hotel, eight different street and graffiti artists created murals representing a borough in Brooklyn. Steven Gonzalez Marin, creative director of the Renaissance Collective, tells me the artists chose their borough on a first come, first serve basis. The hotel brands itself as “Bushwick inspired” which Steven says is to do with murals and their connection to street art. Instead framing art in neat frames, the creative team decided to use the white walls as canvases.
While the hotel is very much in its early stages, they have plans this summer to launch a sidewalk terrace with a mobile bar, food trucks and a rooftop bar.
