Tonight, the Brooklyn Art Cave transforms into a nexus of sustainability-meets-creativity as California-based Rabble Wine and local street art publication UP Magazine present their “Listen to Your Mother” event, bringing together 20 artists for a one-night celebration centered on environmental themes.
The free event, running from 6-10 p.m. at 897 Broadway, serves as the New York installment of Rabble Wine’s national Earth Month campaign, which according to company materials aims to “show up for the earth and raise a rabble in celebration of Mother Nature.”
While the wine flows freely (complimentary samples will be available to all attendees), the artistic component takes center stage with four artists conducting live painting sessions throughout the evening. DJ Damage will provide musical accompaniment and host the proceedings, creating what organizers describe as an immersive environmental art experience.

The gathering represents a meeting of two distinct worlds: Rabble Wine, a Paso Robles, California-based company touting B-Corp certification and membership in the 1% For The Planet initiative, and UP Magazine, a New York publication focused on street art, graffiti, and urban culture.
“We are not afraid to do things differently to ignite conversation and create change in the wine world and beyond,” states Rabble Wine in their press materials, positioning themselves at the intersection of viticulture and environmental activism.
Behind the promotional language lies an ambitious sustainability program that Rabble claims includes solar energy usage, minimal vineyard irrigation, and recycling wastewater as a nutrient-rich soil additive. The company states they’ve been a 1% For The Planet member since 2019 and are “on track to plant their 250,000th tree this year.”
For UP Magazine, the event fits within their existing portfolio of monthly New York City events aimed at connecting the local creative community. The publication, which positions itself as providing “nuanced, provocative, and critical writing,” appears to find common ground with Rabble’s environmental messaging in this collaborative effort.
The Brooklyn event marks just one stop in Rabble’s national Earth Month campaign, which continues with Coachella activations on April 12, Miami events at Wynwood Walls and Smorgasburg from April 19-20, and culminates with what they bill as an “Earth Month bash” in Los Angeles on April 25.
Beyond the main exhibition, four vendors will be present: Lost in the City, 5 Borough Prints, Beagle with Beads, and All City Legends, offering attendees the opportunity to purchase merchandise alongside their wine consumption and art viewing.
The artist lineup spans a wide range of aesthetics and approaches, ranging from established creators with substantial social media followings to emerging talents. Four artists – @vk.nyc.art, @lillercakes, @nandos.art and @rylathecreator – will conduct live painting demonstrations throughout the evening.
