Boozing in Bushwick may be one of the best things to do, but it’s good to mix it up every now and again. This Bushweek is all about poetry, artisan swaps, wine tasting (oops), and chowing down on whole pig and slamming beers (oops again). Oh well, I guess we can’t escape it entirely.

? Monday: Poetry Slam

7-9 p.m. at BRIC 647 Fulton St., Brooklyn

Get your dose of honesty and give some out yourself. Get there early to sign up for the open mic following the slam.

Tuesday: Buddhist Meditation

7 p.m. at 100 Bogart Gallery, 100 Bogart St., Bushwick

Meditation is hard in the hustle and bustle of New York. Whether you’ve been meditating for years or want to start, this community-oriented session welcomes you for a joint meditation experience– and we don’t mean with weed.

Wednesday: Free Wine Tasting

6:30- 8:30 p.m. at Irving Bottle Wine Shop, 155 Irving Ave., Bushwick

Pretend to care about different wines each week while sampling them for free with some light snacks from local businesses. This is a great way learn about the wine and spirits Irving Bottle Wine Shop carries without the commitment of buying it first–or at all.

Thursday: A Queer workshop

9:30 p.m.- 4 a.m. at Bizarre Bushwick, 12 Jefferson St., Bushwick

Failure: A Queer Workshop presents a conversation on intimacy and the queer body through performance, conversation, and joyful debauchery. There is $10 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

? Friday: Whole pig roast with can beers!

6-10 p.m. at The Well, 272 Meserole St., Bushwick

Get your hedonism on while devouring some roasted pig and chugging canned brews. $15 tickets buy a pristine plate of pig. $35 tickets include a plate and a mixed 4 pack from your favorite local breweries. There’s even a vegetarian option available.

?‍♂️ Saturday: Pop Gym Pop Up

12 – 3 p.m. at Superchief Gallery, 16-28 Jefferson Ave., Ridgewood

Come by this free Pop Gym Pop Up workshop at the Superchief Gallery and learn some introductory skills that will keep you feeling safe and help you kick ass if need be. Pop Gym instructors will be covering the basics: stretching, conditioning, technique, and theory.

? Sunday: Swap-o-rama

2-8 p.m. at Paradise Place, 1263 Bushwick Ave., Bushwick

Paradise Place is hosting its first artisan swap on Sunday. Come hang all day for new supplies, networking, and brunch treats! Items they are looking for: your artwork, what you think is “art supplies,” and clothes.
