Beautiful spring week ahead of us, and we hope you cleared your schedule for a ton of intriguing events this week! 

We reached into the infinite well of possibilities AKA our FREE community events calendar and selected one perfection of an event for every day of the week. 

Monday: DRUNK WRITING: Micro Fiction and Shots

7 p.m. – 9 p.m., The Footlight, 465 Seneca Ave., Ridgewood, FREE

Do you have writer’s block? We have one idea for how to get your creative juices flowing again. On Monday, The Footlight is hosting an interactive class for writers of all levels, promising hilarious writing prompts and shots. 

Tuesday: 2 Buck Tuesdays

The Well, 272 Meserole St., East Williamsburg, FREE

Sometimes all you need is a good conversation and a $2 beer. The Well, a beer bar located in a former brewery, will provide the beer, you provide the conversation topics.   

Wednesday: Media Talks: Getting started in Independent Film with New Voices in Black Cinema, featuring Dui Jarrod

7 p.m. – 9 p.m., BRIC, 647 Fulton St., Brooklyn, FREE

On Wednesday, go see Dui Jarrod, a screenwriter, director, playwright and essayist talk about his work, which focuses on the power of human connection in the landscape of modern America.

Thursday: High Fives – Friends NYC x Floss Gloss 4/20 Party

Friends NYC, 56 Bogart St., East Williamsburg, FREE

Bushwick women-owned businesses, Friends NYC and Floss Gloss, are inviting everyone for a 420 party with lotsa nail polish, braides, and 20-percent storewide discount. Sounds like a highly cool event to us. 

Friday: Silver Linings Comedy Show

Precious Metal, 143 Troutman St., Bushwick, FREE but reservation highly encouraged

Silver Linings is one of the hottest monthly comedy shows in Brooklyn right now. Their line-up this month includes: Tim Dillon (Just for Laughs, Last Comic Standing on NBC, New York Comedy Festival); Sean Patton (Comedy Central’s Half Hour and This Is Not Happening); May Wilkerson (Someecards); Chris Calogero (Fusion TV); Sydnee Washington (The UnOfficial Expert), and Jake Head (Laughs on Fox). 

Saturday: Ridgewood Market’s 4-Year Anniversary & Night Bazaar

Gottscheer Hall, 657 Fairview Ave., Ridgewood

One of the most rewarding and entertaining market events in our area is Ridgewood Market, and guess what? They’re celebrating their fourth anniversary this Saturday! Expect live music, entertainment, raffles, games, as well as German Bratwurst and plenty of German beer. 

Sunday: Neighborhood Consciousness Raising

1 p.m. – 2 p.m., for location email [email protected]

Stay woke also thanks to this neighborhood consciousness raising event for women, trans, and non-binary folk where the organizers will answer questions such as: How does birth control, abortion, and child care affect my life? What restrictions do I face? How would full & free reproductive rights affect women?
