DeKalb Ave’s Displaced Families Still Need Help: Support Them At This Benefit Show!

This Friday, you will have another opportunity to donate cash and household items to those displaced by the DeKalb Ave fire by way of a benefit concert at IDIO Gallery.

Performances by Brooklyn’s electro-poppy LANTRNS, ambient Letters to Nepal, and synthy Rob Karpay are sure to please the ear drums, and an art installation by photographer Darragh Dandurand will be a visual treat. It’s a great opportunity to do good while checking out a few up and comping acts.

Bushwick’s Braven Brewing Company is sponsoring the event and all proceeds will go directly to the survivors. Admission is $10 or $8 with a donation of new or gently used clothing, non-perishable food, and hygienic products at the door.

The six-alarm Dekalb Ave fire at the end of March destroyed several family homes. Members of the community have come together in a number of ways since then to support the victims by promoting GoFundMe pages and setting out donation bins at coffee shops and stores all over the neighborhood. Even the governor lent a helping hand by offering low-interest SBA loans to help people get back on their feet.

Stop by to drink a local brew, hear some local tunes, and help neighbors who are still in need!

Idio Gallery is located in Studio D of 976 Grand St between Waterbury St and Morgan St off of the Grand stop on the L. The benefit starts at 8pm and goes until midnight, and admission is $10, though bringing physical donations to the gallery can earn you a discount. RSVP on Facebook here.
