Imagine, if you will, reader, that the tagline “feel the bern” originated when a yuge Bernie Sanders fan downed several drinks while reading the senator from Vermont’s moral positions over and over again. Bushwick bar + event space Our Wicked Lady (153 Morgan Avenue) sees this political predicament and raises it with a Bernie Sanders inspired margarita that’s also a fundraiser for the Sanders campaign.

Owners Keith Hamilton and Zach Glass created the Feel The Bern Margarita and launched the coinciding fundraiser to invite Bushwick to indulge in a drink, in the name of political revolution. “We love Bernie and what he stands for, we love puns, and we love margaritas, so this was a perfect fit for Our Wicked Lady’s first fundraiser,” the owners explained.

Two bucks from the sale of every Feel The Bern Margarita ($12) will go directly to the Bernie Sanders campaign. Since the drink’s debut on the 18th, OWL has raised more than $100 (that’s over fifty margaritas!) for the campaign, and the bar is extending the special through this week for all lovers of margaritas and Bernie Sanders (and puns!).

Additionally, for each marg purchased, Bernie boozers will get a Bushwick Berners exclusive “I heart Bernie” sticker. “The heart is a nug of weed,” notes Sarah Hamilton, social media and press powerhouse at OWL.

The ingredients are as follows:

Feel The Bern Margarita

Tequila Cabeza

fresh lime juice

homemade habanero agave

spicy salt rim

Make your way over to Our Wicked Lady this week and drink to the political revolution!

Our Wicked Lady is open Mondays & Tuesdays from 5 PM – 2 AM, Wednesdays – Saturdays from 5 PM – 4 AM, and Sunday from Noon – 2 AM. Located at 153 Morgan Avenue at Meserole Street a few blocks from the Morgan L.
