You would think that Bushwick has had enough porn after NY Porn Festival was successfully held at Secret Project Robot earlier this year. Well, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Bushwick-based feminist artists are organizing yet another, more intimate porn festival with hopes for less press, less protesters, less James Franco, less Miley Cyrus and more community involvement.
The Queer Porn Festival, which hopes to create “space to submerge yourself into art, sex, politics, queer life, queer luv, and queer lust,” is set to rock at The Spectrum this weekend on Sunday, April 19.
The festivities begin at 2pm with a porn & pancake brunch and end with a “darkroom dirty DIY” party that begins at 1am and is sure to go on into the wee hours of the morning. We mean, you know a party is going to be crackin’ if it starts at 1am.
The day will also consist of workshops that will, “motivate, inspire, and build community around queer art, porn, awareness, theory, and activism.” There will be also be multiple porn showings, duh. A variety of films, “underground, experimental, political, artistic, hardcore, AND mainstream… will be screened in the form of one epic mixtape.” The organizers promise a live porn shoot open to the public and a porn open mic where you get the chance to play your favorite clips!
And as an added bonus, all profits will be donated to PERSIST, which is “a peer-led, community-based health and community organizing project based on Brooklyn, New York ” that provides services to workers in the sex trade.
So have some fun, learn something, and watch some amazing porn!
