So word on the street is that there’s a big bowl of American football happening this Sunday, February 2nd. For many, this marks the annual pinnacle of a feverish and righteous American tradition. For some, this year’s game denotes the ten-year anniversary of a cultural milestone. But for all of us, this is yet another reason to start drinking before noon. But giant TVs and a huge couch are luxuries usually reserved for suburbanites and the extremely wealthy. So what’s a girl living in a cramped railroad to do? Hit up these bars and hunker down to watch the Seahawks trample the Broncos (!!!!) and, I guess, horses and puppies being friends. Game starts at 6:30, but, obviously, you should be really drunk and full of chicken wings long before then.

#1 Pine Box Rock Shop (12 Grattan St)

The Rock Shop is the Bushwick granddaddy of bars in which to have pleasurable communal viewing experiences. They’ve got a bunch of TVs, world famous bloody mary’s, chile, and, I gotta put ’em at the top of this list because they’ll be rooting for the Hawks. Plus, they just added Dark Horse Scotty Karate Scotch Ale to their draft beers!

#2 Miles (101 Wilson Ave)

Did you know that Miles sells FOUR different kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches? But you can get those any day. Superbowl Sunday they’ll be serving up some proper game day eats. And you can trust the fine folks that brought you a campfire cocktail and a sergeant pepper grilled cheese sandwich to treat you right on the most important holiday of February.

#3 Heavy Woods (50 Wyckoff Ave)

Heavy Woods is gonna be rocking their usual delicious and laid back brunch, plus some fun and exciting football oriented food specials. And in the move that definitely caught my attention: $2 drafts of Budlight all day!

#4 Danny’s Pizzeria (239 Bushwick Ave)

Danny’s will be running some serious SuperBowl Specials on their standard pizzeria fare: cheap pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks, and pitchers of Brooklyn Lager. Plus, you can always count on their 2-for-$5 can beer special. They’ve got two big TVs angled strategically to maximize your viewing experience, and people are already reserving space at the bar, so it’s looking to be quite the party! Plus, if American football isn’t up in your wheelhouse, they’ll be playing the big soccer game at 3 PM.

#5 Alaska Bar (35 Ingraham St)

For those amongst us who actually don’t care a whit about football, or for those who care a LOT about video games, go to Alaska Bar this Sunday to play some Nintendo 64 games, including Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers. A great opportunity to get your competitive juices flowing, fill your veins with beer, and meet some new friends without having to endure watching football.
