WHO THEY ARE:

Hunters comes from all over – from Brazil to Pennsylvania, finally settling in Brooklyn. Izzy and Derek met in a Chinatown arcade in 2009. “Shortly thereafter they began plotting their music coup bringing together kindred set of influences: Hawkwind and Karp for Watson, and L7, Melvins, Sonic Youth, for Almeida.” They got their band name from actor Tab Hunter, who plays Todd Tomorrow in John Waters’ Polyester. With a colorful background, you can expect a myriad of energetic sounds to create a melodic, grungy, thrash rock sound. Their stage presence is intense yet relatable as Izzy jerks her body across the stage, gracefully yet chaotically flailing her arms and rolling around. It makes you want to do the same no matter how even-tempered you are. Hunters has played all over New York City, but claims Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s DIY venue, Death By Audio (DBA) as their home. They released their first EP, Hands on Fire in 2011 and most recently, their self-titled album, Hunters, which you can purchase here! Check out the jams and make sure you head to one of their shows next week!
