Guys — it’s officially the last weekend in August

Music may enrich our memories of a time and place, but at festivals, it only tells half the story; the only real constant are the attendees

CMJ only seems like a drag if a) you’re in a band that’s playing 3+ shows; b) you don’t know how to navigate the madness

We hope you are all as jazzed about CMJ as we are! The festival is the College Music Journal’s “Music Marathon”- a completely amazing (and exhausting) week (October 21-25, 2014) of live music, giving the music community a chance to catch the best new artists from around the world before they blow up

For the second year in a row, we are stoked to announce an unofficial CMJ showcase with Out In The Streets! This year’s party will take place on Thursday, October 23rd at Lot 45 with a killer lineup of local talent and well as some imports including Rioux, Fort Lean, Zula, Yawn, Seoul, and more! Come party with us to experience the CMJ Music Marathon from the comfort of your own hood

As the lofts fill out, and the condos go up, it’s getting tougher to see Bushwick as the harbor of subculture and the avant-garde nightlife that has been part of its identity for the better part of a decade

In case you were unaware of this gem, David Bowie and Mick Jagger covered “Dancing in the Streets,” back in their hay day, and it seems pretty representative of what everyone should do this weekend
