The weatherman has been announcing temperature over 90°F on a daily basis for a while now, and we’re not the only ones who know this. If you wake up with a bunch of bites on your body right, do not be alarmed! It’s (probably) not bed bugs but those pesky, buzzing and irritating mosquitos that are living in your apartment.

I’m not sure how you feel about these blood-sucking roommates, because I personally like to get rid of them as soon as possible. Not only are the bites really itchy, potentially they might transmit West Nile Virus.

So first apply some tea tree oil on where damage has been done already, and then get to building this wonderful DIY mosquito trap, which works like a charm every night.  All you’ll need are a couple of regular household items.

The mosquitos will be attracted to the mixture you create and will fly right into your trap. After that, you guessed it right, they will drawn in the water.

What you will need:

1/2 a cup of Brown Sugar

1/3 of teaspoon of Yeast (can be found in any supermarket)

1 empty large soda or water bottle

Tape

2 cups of Hot Water

How to do it:

Step 1: Cut the empty bottle in half and place the neck portion aside for now.

Step 2: Mix brown sugar with hot water and let it cool. After it has cooled down, pour the mixture in the bottom half of the bottle.

Step 3: Add yeast. No need to mix it.

Step 4: Place the neck portion upside down and into the bottom half of the bottle.

Step 5: Wrap the bottle with tape through the midpoint, joining the two together and place it in your apartment, ideally in a corner.
