The Portland, Oregon pizza punks responsible for Sizzle Pie, a heavy metal pizza chain with locations across the Pacific Northwest, are bringing their fare to Bushwick.

The popular pizzeria, which is open at three locations in Portland as well as in Seattle and Eugene, serves vegan, vegetarian and gluten free pizzas complemented with a beer and wine menu.

Sizzle Pie’s east coast location will be joining a robust local pizza scene, which includes heavy hitters Roberta’s, Norbert’s, Archie’s, both of the neighborhood’s Tony’s, Houdini Kitchen Lab and Union Pizza Works.

The new eatery won’t be the only local institution with locations in the Northwest; Johnson Avenue’s Caffe Vita is a Seattle transplant, and Bushwick’s long tenured eponymous book club has a chapter in the rainy city, too.

Portland Eater presented details of the plan presented by owners Matt Jacobson and Mikey McKennedy after reading news of the expansion in pizza trade publication Pizza Today.

Sizzle Pie’s New York home requires new permits and plenty of work before it can open, and the owners estimate that an opening date is at least six to nine months out, if not more. Stay tuned for additional details about the new local eatery—and plan on folding your slices there when it does open!
