Bushwick's Wheelhouse has kicked off their summer menu with 7 new slam dunk sandwiches
Did somebody say lunch time? Gourmet cheese sandwich, anyone?
Last week, Bushwick Daily spent an afternoon down on Wilson Avenue. Originally the visit was just meant to be an exploration of new curiosity shop Alberto and Sons, which alone made the outing well worth it, even in the heat—but when hunger struck, we found ourselves at Bushwick's lovable little sandwich shop The Wheelhouse and discovered that the house has kicked off a brand new summer menu adding seven new sandwiches, three of which are vegetarian, to the repertoire.

Owner and head chef Danny Teran tells Bushwick Daily that with the new menu, he has made an effort to present more vegetarian options. The Wheelhouse now offers vegetarian bacon, and has a wider selection of produce and cheese. House sandwiches are made with fresh basked bread from Balthazar Bakery, which is cut to order.

Teran's personal favorites are the Jerky Boy ($13) with grilled caribbean jerk chicken breast, pineapple-plantain chutney, cilantro-jalapeno aioli, gruyere on toasted sourdough, and the French Dipset! ($14), made of sliced roast beef, crispy-fried fire roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, white-truffle horseradish aioli, smoked provolone and aus jus on a toasted baguette.
Bushwick Daily's recommendation? The Cover Purple ($13): crispy fried eggplant, arugula, smoked provolone and chili-tomato jam on toasted ciabatta.

The temperature may be rising outside, but don't be dissuaded by the heat: The Wheelhouse recently set up a new AC.
Head on over and indulge in one of the decadent new offerings!
