Add this New Yoker cover to the long list of illustrations, essays, comics, tweets, and articles pointing out the many incongruities visible on the L train. In his commentary, illustrator Tomer Hanuka focused not on the differences but on the similarities between the two riders: their “superbeards.” And since they’re both riding the L, we can only assume they’re both late for work.

This cover, which points to tensions in an ever-changing Brooklyn, is not Mr. Hanuka’s first. He was previously featured in a February 2014 issue, with a timely depiction of a snow storm in the city.
