It’s been twenty years since Jason Zimbler aka “Ferguson” bugged the crap out of Melissa Joan Hart in the breakthrough Nickelodeon TV series, Clarissa Explains It All. The show was the first of its kind to feature a female lead and charmed its way into the hearts—and wardrobes—of many Gen Xers as evidenced by the bounty of Clarissa-inspired jean jackets, crop tops, and Dr. Martens today. Don’t miss your chance to see Ferguson all grown up (and hopefully a little less exasperating) at tonight’s free Late Night Basement show at the Pine Box Rock Shop.

Jason will be joined by Sari Botton, the editor and contributing writer to the anthology, Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving New York. Inspired by Joan Didion’s candid 1967 essay by the same name, the collection deftly articulates the ambivalence many New Yorker’s experience as the rents and population rise causing hard-earned dollars and patience for city living to dwindle.

Lastly, make sure to stick around for stand-up from reliably funny comedians Mike Drucker, writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Montreal Just For Laughs alum, Seaton Smith. Host Chris Rose will be unveiling a new Man on the Street video and DJ Treatz will be providing the beats way past your bedtime.

Doors open at 9PM. Come early to take advantage of the wicked good brew deal—Weyerbacher Brewing Company will be serving 2-for-1 of their seasonal AutumnFest beer—and stay late to get Nickstalgic with “Ferg-face,” “Ferganerd,” “Fergwad,” etc.

Late Night Basement is a free live late night show once a month at Pine Box Rock Shop hosted by Chris Rose in Bushwick at 12 Grattan St, Brooklyn.
