This week’s Friday First features Brooklyn electro pop duo Candide and an exclusive stream of their first EP Don’t You Go, out June 24th on Zappruder Records. Friday First is a weekly column devoted to premiering new music from local, national, and international artists.

Candice Strongwater and Adam Brodsky are bringing Berlin-inspired tunes back to their Brooklyn home (Ponyhof, anyone?). The duo has packed their EP Don’t Let Go with pop-y synths and mesmerizing chants begging for a summertime rooftop. Underlying house music beats are punctuated by funky disco guitar rhythms, R&B percussion, and Strongwater’s commanding femme fatale vocal stylings. From their sexy and sinister track “Don’t You Go” (reminiscent of Kavinsky) to their toe-tapping, soulful grooves in “Work Hard,” Don’t You Go will have fans of Lemonade, Chromatics and Wet sliding across the (illuminated rainbow) dance floor.  Awesome bonus: a remix of “Scaredy Cat” with fellow Brooklynite Rush Midnight is featured on the release! In “BIT,” Strongwater sings about “searching for the perfect beat in the city heat” – one sticky, sweaty commute with Candide in your earbuds and you may agree that we’ve found it. The band played Glasslands last night (sorry if you missed it!) but keep posted on their doings over on their facebook page.
