If you’re among this city’s many pizza enthusiasts, here’s some welcome news: beloved local pizza shop Norbert’s has opened its doors at a new location at 791 Flushing Avenue.
At its new location, formally called Norbert’s III, Norbert’s will continue to serve its classic no-frills vegetarian pies at the same accessible price (a cheese slice is still only $2), plus some recent additions to the menu that include pastas and a variety of carb-heavy heros (all $6).
The new location will expand delivery range and also features a vast back yard, which will soon have picnic tables and possibly a volleyball court. The pizza shop hopes to use it for movie screenings in good weather and is exploring applying for a license to serve beer.
A Norbert’s collective member tells Bushwick Daily that plans for the expansion developed quickly when the proprietor of the space’s previous business, also a pizza shop, reached out to see if Norbert’s might be interested in partnering.
One month and a few redecoration projects later (the interior is now Norberts’ signature teal shade and former excess kitchen space now features small tables built against the walls), the new shop is ready for your order.
Norbert’s had previously operated solely out of its Norbert’s Express location at 4 Stuyvesant Avenue at Broadway ever since the original Norbert’s location, at 1215 Myrtle Avenue (now home to Birdy’s), closed. Norbert’s Express will be staying open for the forseeable future; plans are in the works to build out its coffee offerings with a recently acquired espresso machine.
Here’s the new delivery range:
Happy pizza-eating, Bushwick!
