Without too much ado, 319 Scholes grew into a world-class mecca for Internet and digital art. I personally, “blame” for this, its director and curator Lindsay Howard whose knowledge, broad activities and contacts in the “Internet art world”, has brought many of the leading artists and curators into the warehouse in the East Williamsburg Industrial Park.

Tonight, 319 Scholes will present a group show exploring the response of art to the information society and the huge growth in accessibility and production of cultural contents online. An artist is an archivist, collector and post-producer of already existing cultural material according to Domenico Quaranta who curated the show.

The exhibition will also serve as a book launch of Ryan Trecartin’s eBook Web 1.0. (free download here). If you saw Trecartin’s excellent show last summer at MoMA PS 1, you ought to be on your way to 319 Scholes right now!
