Finally! MTA Schedules Public L Train Meeting for Cinco de Mayo

It's doubtless been a rough week for MTA officials after news broke that residents of homes beneath the M train at Myrtle Broadway will have to pack up and leave during track work—but the Authority has finally committed to holding a public meeting sharing details about the coming Lpocalypse on Cinco de Mayo.

As was first reported earlier this year, the L train's Canarsie Tube under the East River is in need of major repairs which will likely require a lengthy MTA shutdown. Competing information has been tossed around by concerned residents and city officials alike, but a community meeting on May 5th (the first in a series) might clear up some of the confusion.

In a press release commending the move to transparency, Bushwick State Senator Martin Malavé Dilan said that the meeting "shows that it [the MTA] has every intention of meeting requests to directly engage the concerned riders and businesses in the community."

The meeting will be held at 6pm on May 5th at 355 Marcy Ave, and will include a presentation by the MTA and a discussion of current construction options.
