It’s officially spring, and that means an abundance of amazing street festivals! Later this month, The Ridgewood Historical Society is partnering with House of Yes to host The New Amsterdam Festival, a seasonal celebration of Dutch culture. The Festival will take place at the Vander Ende-Onerdonk House in Ridgewood.

The free two-day event will take place on April 29 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Festival goers are encouraged to enjoy the event’s food, games, and seasonal shopping from Mama’s Bazaar, which will feature 15 local artisans and vendors at this year’s festival.

House of Yes co-founder Kae Burke says she wanted to partner with The Ridgewood Historical Society as a way to support the community and to celebrate Dutch history and culture.

“Community is at the core of everything we do from supporting local artists and performers, to booking local vendors at our weekend market with Mamas Bazaar,” says Burke. “The New Amsterdam Festival is about not only the beginning of spring but also about bringing people together from all ages and walks of life and a chance for us to give something back to our neighbors that is fun for families too and at the same time delivers a little slice of Dutch culture to Queens, New York.”

In addition to the bazaar, the New Amsterdam Festival will host food vendors that will serve some of Holland’s finest eats including sweet stroopwafels. Jefferson Street’s own (not Dutch but still very delicious) Queen of Falafel will also offer snacks at the festival.

Finally, festival-goers will enjoy a live Dutch bluegrass band followed by music from House of Yes’s own resident DJs to cap off the evenings.

Join the Ridgewood Historical Society and House of Yes April 29 and 30 at 1820 Flushing ave for the New Amsterdam Festival. We’ll see you there!
