Celebrate The Weirdness of Wes Anderson With Syndicated's Week Long Anderson Retrospective! — Arts & Culture on Bushwick Daily

Celebrate The Weirdness of Wes Anderson With Syndicated's Week Long Anderson Retrospective!

For the very reasonable price of $3 for a ticket, you can enjoy Anderson's sweet, bizarre films in the AC at Syndicated all week long!

The mannerly, hyperstylized films of Wes Anderson are so distinctive that the auteur's name is often employed as an adjective. Nonetheless, with each new acclaimed, painstakingly pensive movie, Anderson has continued to build on his previous material without falling victim to cliches of his own device.

The phrase "Wes Andersony" is tolerable because all of his characters, from his impassive antagonists to his desperately uncool underdogs fall recognizably on an entertaining, relatable spectrum of human absurdity, which make his films perennially watchable.

Which is why it's great news that this week, you can go see many of them in all their glory on the big screen at Syndicated during the bar, restaurant and cinema's Wes Anderson retrospective!

For the very reasonable price of $3 for a movie ticket, Anderson enthusiasts can escape the August heat inside the air conditioned, 50-seat screening room behind the bar in Syndicated's cavernous art deco home on Bogart Street—and as always, if the movie du jour inspires you to order a highball, or even dinner, you can order off the menu inside the theater.

Tonight, Tuesday, August 9th, 2014's star studded caper The Grand Budapest Hotel plays at 6:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.; there will also be a Wes Anderon trivia night in the front of house at 8.

Anderson's directorial debut Bottle Rocket, which stars Luke and Owen Wilson, screens Wednesday, August 10th, also at 6:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The coming of age movie Rushmore, starring the very pimply teenage Jason Schwartzman, plays on Thursday the 11th at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th, Anderson's biggest hits The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou both play (The Royal Tenenbaums plays at 6:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, The Life Aquatic plays at 8:40 p.m. on Friday and 1:00 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on Saturday)

The retrospective wraps up on Sunday with screenings of family drama The Darjeeling Limited at 1:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 10:00 p.m; Anderson's 13 minute prologue to Darjeeling, Hotel Chevalier, which stars Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman, will play before each show starts.

Attendees who make it to the 1 p.m. screenings on Saturday and Sunday can partake of Syndicated's decadent brunch, which will now be offered in both the original form and a pre fixe bottomless form, during the movies.

Don your knee socks or bow tie or other quirky accoutrements, if you're so inclined, and enjoy!
