Bushwick Art Show Announces Call for Submissions for Work by Mexican Artists

"Méxtasis," a local art show planned for early June, is seeking work by Mexican artists organized around the themes of their country of origin and the concept of ecstasy.

The call for submission, announced in both English and Spanish on the show's website, notes that "Nowadays, Mexico receives a very peculiar attention. It has worldwide fame for its narcotraffic, political dysfunctions and migration; at the same time [its] artists and filmmakers are awarded, thus highlighting the talent of this country."

The organizers note that all Mexican nationals will be considered, without regard to their current country of residence. Information about additional submission parameters is available here; The submission deadline is May 8th, and the selected artists will be announced May 15th.

Méxtasis is also on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and has put out the call to the New York Foundation for the Arts as well as the Brooklyn Arts Council, so interested parties can expect some formiddable competition.
