Are you finally thawing out after the Polar Vortex did its worst and finding yourself in need of a reason to wear something other than multiple pairs of longjohns and a balaclava? We’re looking at a great weekend in Bushwick (more on that in tomorrow’s weekend guide), and we’re eager to start it off right.

And tonight’s to-do at Molasses Books fits the bill perfectly. There’s a party to celebrate the release of Yé Yé! Girls of 60′s French Pop, a beautiful new title from Feral House Press, the independent publishers of such titles as BLACK METAL: Evolution of the Cult and Several Ways to Die in Mexico City. The book is authored by French pop music expert Jean Emmanuelle Deluxe, and includes his original scholarship on the genre in addition to some gorgeous primary documents–and picking up a copy of the book at the party will get you a drink on the house!

The evening will be accordingly Yé-yé-themed: attendees are encouraged to bust out their best 60’s pop look, and DJs Cha Cha Charming and Mikey IQ of East Village Vinyl Staple Other Music will be spinning classics by the likes of chanteuses France Gall, Brigitte Bardot–and quite possibly even that ubiquitous Gillian Hills standard Zou Bisou Bisou.

So if you’ve been looking for an occasion to wear your go-go boots or Lolita sunglasses in the dead of winter, tonight’s your night. Things kick off at 7. Enjoy!!
