Tenants of a building long neglected by its landlord are seeking the appointment of a a city administrator to make their home livable again.
The residents of the 4-story building at 159 Suydam street are represented by MFY legal services and are suing their landlord, Damian Campassano, for refusing to address a long list of issues with the building.
In addition to the neglect, Campassano was named in indictments against two Department of Housing Preservation and Development inspectors who allegedly took bribes in exchange for attempting to fraudulently evict his tenants.
The tenant’s lawyer is working with New York State assemblymember Maritza Davila to address the multitude of issues the tenants face.
