Champs Vegan Bakery and Luncheonette

, the tiny eatery and bakery in a former bodega at 760 Bushwick Ave, shuttered its doors after Labor Day weekend. If you were among those in the habit of swinging by in the morning to see if the cinnamon rolls were fresh from the oven or ordering takeout brunch and a juice to eat in bed as you nursed your hangover, you’ll be delighted to know that as of today, the doors of the space are open again with two ace bakers, both Champs alums, helming a new enterprise there and serving up treats of their own invention. Bushwick, stop in and say hello to Brooklyn Whiskers!

The Brooklyn Whiskers team Preesa Adeline Bullington and K have been running their biz out of 760 Bushwick since Champs closed last summer, but before today, the two were mostly selling their goods wholesale to cafe clients in Brooklyn and Manhattan (they get rave reviews at Riverdel, Prospects Heights’ vegan cheese shop) and doing pop ups: you may have spotted them at the Bushwick Vendor’s Market at Silent Barn or a Vegan Shop Up at Pine Box Rock Shop.

But starting now, when you swing by their home base, which has been revamped with outside a fresh coat of yellow paint and a beautiful new garden and inside with chalkboard walls and a pastry case, you can pick up their amazing eats without visiting one of their stockists.

The flavors will rotate, but they’ll have muffins, scones and plain, stuffed and savory croissants and danishes on the regular, plus cupcakes, brownies and cookies with cakes (including cheesecakes) and indulgent bars available as custom orders. Everything is 100% vegan, and there will be options for the gluten free among us, too.

There will be coffee, there will be tea, and there will be even more to come. We’ll see you there!
