While the chilly air reminds us that summer is still a month away, Bushwick Open Studios kicks off in two weeks!!! Join #AiB on Friday night for the annual Launch Party and Seeking Space Park Exhibition, check out Community Day in Maria Hernandez on Saturday, and rest a bit after the long weekend during CinemaSunday at the Bushwick Community Darkroom. As always, the AiB Blog has been busy covering the most exciting art events in the neighborhood and we are here to share those stories with you:

• Life on Mars Gallery hosted a release party for musician Marilyn Carino’s new album, Leaves, Sadness, Science. Carino opens up about how artists like Frida Kahlo inspired each track and discusses the similarities she sees between the song writing process and visual art creation.

• AiB held a mixer at Skytown to register participants for BOS2015, giving attendees a chance to get to know some of this year’s participants, including both BOS veterans and newcomers. Some artists to check out: Amy Robin Miller, who paints large-scale abstract pieces as well as smaller works with pen and ink. Rachel Rossin creates installation art, including an ambitious piece consisting of 9,000 hollow eggs. Collective HQ will be showing for their first time at BOS2015, and the secrecy they’re maintaining about their show sure makes it sound that much more intriguing!

• BOS Studio Visits included an interview with painter Thomas Legaspi, who discussed the role of conceptual-based artwork and feminist influences in his work.
