It’s better than a juice cleanse, cheaper than therapy, and almost on par with the best yoga class you’ve ever taken: go hang out with some kids at Still Waters in a Storm, on Stanhope Ave. There’s about two dozen kids, from first to eighth grades, and they have an INSANE amount of homework. Help them navigate the challenges of growing up in the high-stress, high stakes, post-internet world, and feel like a saint in the process.

Here’s the basic info from Still Waters founder, Stephen Haff:

HOMEWORK HELPERS NEEDED. Are you looking for an authentic Bushwick experience? A place where you belong? Do you like kids? Do you want to put your education to good work, and feel better about yourself? Still Waters in a Storm, a sanctuary for children in Bushwick, offers free homework help to public school students ages 5-13. These are super sweet and bright kids who are burdened with an outrageous amount of homework. They need kind, patient adults to help them through their daily struggles. You can be one of those adults!

The hours of greatest need are Monday through Wednesday, 3-7. Any portion of that time will be gratefully accepted!

It is always the case that the kids help you as much as you help them!
