Just a little too often I’ve been hearing this August that nothing important happens before the Labor Day. But just a plain look at Bushwick art shows and at arty afterparties warms my heart proving wrong all of you August snobs! August is indeed awesome. So for those of you who are taking a break from their Hamptons residencies, we’ve got collage all over Armature Art Space, good ol’ Bushwick apartment art show and even a very arty afterparty that requires you to wear “something vampy.” Let’s do this. Tonight!

#1 BROOKLYN COLLAGE COLLECTIVE: Episode #3 @ Armature Art Space, 316 Weirfield St (FRI 7-11PM, free)

This is the 3rd installment of the evolution of the Brooklyn Collage Collective featuring 14 collage makers.

#2 In Every Dream Home…@ GCA, 119 Ingraham Street #315 (FRI 7-9PM, free)

in every home

In Every Dream Home… is a three-person art exhibition that looks into the dark side of a seemingly benign trinity of earthen materials – marble, granite and clay. Brendan Loper Michael Dickey, Mike Schreiber.

#3  “Agua” Opening Night @ 93 Knick, 93 Knickerbocker Ave (FRI 7-11PM, free)

aqua

Continuing a good Bushwick tradition of apartment art shows, 93 Knick, is a residence of Katie Killary, our culture editor. Swing by tonight for a solo show of Bushwick-based artist Isabel Schneider who gently depicts the viscous nature of water and the sentiment behind the human touch in the digital age.

#4 Hang Ten Heat Wave @ The Bakery Brooklyn, 325 Rutledge St, BK (FRI 7PM, free)

the bakery

Pure summer vibes are being promised by The Bakery Brooklyn in the group show curated by Jason Kachadourian. I’m also intrigued by the space located in industrial East Williamsburg.

#5 Aine Art Opening Party! @ Daya Yoga, 360 Jefferson St (FRI 8-11PM, free)

aine art

The newest Bushwick yoga studio, Daya Yoga, rotates art on its walls every month. This month they feature Alan Aine who is a Haitian American figurative impressionistic artist who began his art career at the age of 12. Alan is mostly inspired by human emotions, particularly attributed to photography, film, music and other media.

#5 Rocky Horror Picture Party @ Secret Loft, McKibbin Lofts (FRI 9PM-4AM, $5 early, $10 late)

bk wildlife

Party collective Brooklyn Wildlife promotes wild life in Brooklyn and therefore invites you to a Rocky Horror Picture Party. What does that mean? It means you’re up for a costume party . Wear spandex, bodysuits, leotards, biker shorts, leather chaps, metal studs.. anything fun and vampy. This is your perfect arty afterparty for tonight!
