Mallory, a jangly, driven four-piece, came together in early 2014 and have been hitting the Brooklyn scene hard over the past few months. They also played some shows in Connecticut, including at Brandeis University with Prince Rama and Priests. They wield a post-punk sound with elements of grunge and melodic aspects of Pavement, but with more full, more satisfying rock feel.

After hitting the studio, the band just released a teaser single, “Defense Defense,” to whet listeners’ palates. The song winds in with dissonant guitar and soon takes off with clinking drums and  speed-laced guitar and bass that battle across the frets– ironically, the first lyrics spout,”Tired of racing.” Each piece of their music comes together, aligning perfectly together in a brilliant amalgamation of sound.

While still relatively new, the band has some upcoming gigs, including their show this Monday at Radio Bushwick with Star RoverLuke Temple (Here We Go Magic) w/ Austin Vaughn, Mauro, Gui and Friends (Red Hot Chili Peppers & Atoms for Peace). See ya there!
