This week’s Friday First features Bushwick-local band The Love Supreme whose new 7″ I Want You will be officially released on Saturday, January 11. They will be celebrating with a show on the 11th at Cheap Storage’s New Years do-over party. Friday First is a weekly column premiering brand spanking new releases from local and national bands.

This soulful collective started as a Supremes cover band, first called Guyanna Ross, then Guyanna Ross and The Supremes, and once they started writing originals songs they became The Love Supreme. The 12-piece band centers around lead singer Tim Pioppo (his falsetto is breathtaking) and includes a brass section and backup singers! The group was recently signed to Campers Rule Records, and the new release, I Want You, is a beautiful portrayal of soul, funk and sass. The three tunes on the 7″ are filled with twiddling horns and swoon-worthy vocals soaring in both lower and higher octaves. The Love Supreme’s tunes are thrilling, dance-worthy, highly infectious and completely worth bearing witness to any show they ever play. Lucky for you, they’ll be dazzling on a stage near you soon!  Don’t miss your chance to do your new years over and dance with friends new and old to the sounds of The Love Supreme on Saturday, January 11th at Cheap Storage. If you are anxious to get your hands on the 7″ before the masses, you can pre-order I Want You here!
